Taking care of your laundry can be a lot of work, especially if you have kids! It seems like every time you do a load, there’s another shirt with a stain you didn’t even notice.

In today’s blog post we’re sharing our professional cleaning company’s guide to cleaning fabrics. Continue reading to learn more, and if you’re in need of house cleaning services in Raleigh, contact Best Clean Ever!

How to get grease stains out of clothes

When you get a grease stain on your clothes, you can feel like you’ve ruined them — but that’s not true! Here are two fool-proof methods for getting those pesky grease stains out of your clothes, so you can get back to frying chicken, changing your car’s oil, or whatever greasy activity caused you to stain your clothes in the first place!

Cornstarch

Cornstarch absorbs the grease and lifts it from the fabric. Simply sprinkle the stain with cornstarch, let it absorb, and then flush the fabric to remove the cornstarch and the stain. Then, pretreat the area with stain remover and throw it in the laundry. If the stain remains, complete the process again.

Dish Detergent

This might just be the easiest cleaning hack ever. Simply rub some dish detergent on the stain and let it sit. Then wash the clothes as instructed by the garment label. It’s just like removing grease from dishes — and works incredibly well.

How to remove sweat stains

Those pesky yellow stains are a common problem, whether it’s a favorite workout shirt or the shirt you gave that big company meeting in. you can easily banish those pit stains by flushing the stain with white vinegar, letting it soak for 30 minutes. If the stain remains, flush it with hydrogen peroxide, then launder with hot water.

While it might seem like a good idea, avoid using bleach on sweat stains — it can actually make the stain worse.

How to remove grape juice stains

If you have kids (or a clumsy adult that loves grape juice!), you know it’s only a matter of time before there’s a bright purple stain down the front of someone’s shirt. When it comes to removing grape juice stains, the key is speed. The longer the juice stays on fabric, the harder it will be to remove it. Blot the stain with a cloth or paper towel, flush the area with cold water, and then blot with dish soap. Flush the dish soap out with hot water and launder with hot water. If it’s especially stubborn, treat with diluted ammonia.
